Mystic Shores on Canyon Lake is situated in the Comal Independent School District and is served by these public schools:
Grades K-5 – Rebecca Creek Elementary School - Rebecca Creek Elementary School (RCES) is located adjacent to Mystic Shores. The school was opened in 2002 on land carved out from Mystic Shores by the developer. It is named after the original Rebecca Creek School that dates back to 1882 and was located within the Mystic Shores community. The site of the original school is believed to be around Mystic Shores Blvd.
RCES offers services to children with special needs who are as young as three-years-old and Pre-K services are available to some families. RCES has a part-time Volunteer Coordinator who welcomes community volunteers. Volunteers might assist the children with reading or math, help in the library, or assist teachers with running copies or preparing materials for students to use in the classroom. Instruction begins at 7:45, and students are dismissed at 2:40.
Grades 6-8 – Mountain Valley Middle School - MVMS (located in Sattler on FM2673, about 15 miles east of Mystic Shores) serves students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, with about 600 students. All MVMS students have an opportunity to participate in Band, Choir, Theater, Art and Pre-Advanced Placement classes. 7th and 8th graders may participate in competitive teams including UIL Academics,Track, Cross Country, Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Tennis, Cheer and Dance. 7th and 8th graders can choose from a variety of electives including Spanish, Yearbook, and Tech Ed classes. MVMS has a National Junior Honor Society, FCA, FFA, Friends of Rachel's Club, and Leo's Club. Instruction begins at 8:25, and students are dismissed at 3:55.
Grades 9-12 – Canyon Lake High School – CLHS (located in Fischer, off FM3424, about 10 miles east of Mystic Shores) serves students in 9th -12 grade. It is currently classified as a 3A high school, with about 900 students. CLHS offers Advanced Placement and dual credit classes for students who want to earn college credit while in high school. Art, Band, Choir, Theater, Foreign Language, and Tech Ed classes are also offered. CLHS students may participate in a variety of competitive teams including UIL Academics, Track, Cross Country, Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Soccer, Softball, Baseball, Tennis, Ballroom Dancing, Dance, and Cheer. Friday night football games have become a community event in the Fall! Instruction begins at 8:30, and students are dismissed at 3:55.
Memorial Early College High School (located in New Braunfels, off of Business 46) is a unique opportunity availble to Comal ISD high school students who wish to earn an Associate's Degree by the time they gaduate from high school. Students apply when they are in 8th grade, and it is a cooperative effort between the school district and the Alamo Community Colleges. It is completely free to district students!
Senior Citizens Get in Free
The school district now provides senior citizens with a "get in free" card. The CISD Senior Citizen Card will admit the senior citizen to school events, such as UIL varsity sporting events, a high school play, band or choir concert, etc. free of charge. Senior citizens can obtain a CISD Senior Citizen Card by calling (830) 885-1791/ (830) 221-2066, e-mailing Martha Miller (Martha.Miller@comalisd.org), or writing the CISD Communications at 1404 IH 35 North, New Braunfels, 78130. Individuals are only required to provide their name and home address. The district will mail the Senior Citizen Card to the patron.
